Now that it’s spring, clubs are back to hosting events that feature modelers and all of the upgrades they’ve made to their planes during the long winter. As a matter of fact, a couple of AMA clubs were recently featured in their local news for doing just that. The Riverside Aeromodelers Society of North Carolina hosted their annual “Warbirds over East Bend” event. The event features World War One inspired aircraft, or war birds. The camera crew got a great look at their flying field and some of the models as they took off and landed. Just four days later, the Douglas County Flyers Club of Oregon held their first event of the season. The annual fly-in showed off big birds, or models with 80 inch wingspans or larger. The club offered some great interviews which stressed the legitimacy of the hobby as well as AMA’s commitment to safety. You can see the local coverage via the FOX8 website.
